Winner of the 2007 Ovation Award for Best Sound Design: Intimate Theater, this world premiere production featured an impressive technical dedication for a venue the size of the Theatre @ Boston Court in Pasadena, CA 99-seats strong. For the show, Sound Designer Martin Carrillo brought in a Meyer Sound LCR system of UPJ-1Ps to supplement the 17.1 system of Tannoys. A USW-1P brought up the low end. LCS Matrix 3 with Cue Console performed as the main system console and the show brought 11 channels of Shure UHF-R to a mix that was described by Travis Michael Holder “appropriately deciBel shattering sound by Martin Carrillo” The work, by Eric Whitacre boasted an incredible cast of classically trained singers, DJ/Pianist/Musical Director, Greg Chun, Cellist, Fang Fang Xu, and Taiko drumming by On Ensemble. The cast’s lead Soprano role was filled by none other than Grammy Award winner Hila Plitmann. Annie Abrams, Seth Barnett, Dan Callaway, Brad Culver, Jason Currie, Ryan Cusino, Jessica Harwood, Lena Gwendolyn Hill, Emily Kosloski, Eddie Lopez, Rudolfo Nieto, Kevin Odekirk, Jordan T. Ogron, Juli Robbins, Daniel Tatar, Katharine Terray, Marie M. Wallace, and Melissa Wolfklain played the cast of angels.
Paradise Lost has performed again at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which proved a reunion of sorts for Martin Carrillo and RF tech/Assistant Designer turned Master Jason Crystal who designed the Concert Hall performance.
