The EST-LA Production of The Last Seder by Jennifer Maisel and directed by Joseph Megel featured Martin Carrillo’s Music and Sound Design as part of EST-LA’s 2008 season of shows. The show starred Patty Cornell, Douglas Dickerman, Elisa Donovan, William Duffy, Chuma Gault, Lauri Hendler, Annika Marks, Jenny O’Hara, Heather Robinson, Joseph Ruskin, Victoria Stern, and Nick Ullett in an incredible Ensemble cast. Lighting Design by Dan Weingarten, and Scenic Design by Adam Flemming graced the Greenway Court Theater in the heart of the Los Angeles Jewish community at 3rd and Fairfax. Joseph Megel and Jennifer Maisel had the hopes of departing starkly from more traditional Jewish musical styles and towards that end Martin Carrillo chose to compose combo jazz pieces with hints of the klezmer styles but more bebop origins. The upbeat incidental pieces played in a contrast to the poignant work onstage. The show opened on June 20th 2008 with a 5 week run.
